The purpose of the Youth Director position is to administer a developmentally appropriate youth program for children of eligible patrons. A variety of services are provided in accordance with demand and availability of funding to include programs for children ages 5 years through 18 years such as before and after school programs, summer and vacation camp, open recreation, sports and fitness activities, teen programming, and special events. Activities are responsive to the developmental, recreational, social, psychological, and cultural needs of children and youth.

This position is a Child and Youth Programs (CYP)Coordinator of the Teen and Youth Fitness (YF) Program. The Teen and YF programs enable Navy families to balance the competing demands of family life and military readiness by providing rewarding opportunities for youth to be physically active and exposed to positive lifestyle behaviors.

The Council of Professional Recognition has developed the Child Development Associate and Military School Age credentials to improve the quality of child and school-age care programs. CNIC CYP will continue to provide supplemental funding to offer CYP employees and CDH Providers an opportunity to continue their training and receive recognition from a national organization. CNIC (N926) has established a centralized contract with the Council of Professional Recognition to streamline the process for funding the CDA and MSA credentials.
