Section 1793 of title 10, United States Code, requires that DoD prescribe uniform fee regulations for Military Child Development Center (CDC) and School-Age Care (SAC) programs. In addition, pursuant to DoD Instruction 6060.02, "Child Development Programs (CDPs)," August 5, 2014, the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Manpower and Reserve Affairs shall annually review and issue a child care fee policy based upon total family income (TFI) for use by programs in the DoD child development system of care.
In 2018, three Navy teens were selected as Regional MYOYs and advanced to the National MYOY Celebration. During the 2018 National MYOY Celebration, the Navy teens and their advisors participated in a filmed interview session to share their stories, thoughts, and advice. Reflection guides provide opportunities for deeper learning during/after the viewing experience. Reflection guides are provided for the "teen" and the "advisor" sets of videos and are directed for three different audiences: teens, advisors, and Training & Curriculum (T&C) Specialists.
Positive youth development engages youth along with their families and/or communities so that youth are empowered to reach their full potential. The virtual training focused on the 8 essential elements of effective youth programs: Physical & Psychological Safety; Supportive Relationships; Opportunities for Belonging; Positive Social Norms, Appropriate Structure; Efficacy & Mattering; Skill Building; Family, School, & Community.
Programming with the end in mind provides a road map to create experiences for youth with a clear vision of desired directions and outcomes while adjusting the direction for youth input/reaction to the experience. The virtual training focused on youth input & reflection strategies and developing meaningful/intentional learning outcomes. Each virtual training featured presentations with audience interaction and a live Q&A.
