The Navy Child and Youth Programs Interactions and Relationships Standard provides CYP Professionals with specific information and guidance regarding the Navy's requirements for facilitating appropriate and healthy interactions.
Annual unannounced inspections are required at all Navy Child and Youth Programs (CYP) operated on any Navy installation or jurisdiction by Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) CYP Higher Headquarters. This is the Inspection Criteria Checklist that will be used during the CY24 inspection cycle for Child Development Centers, effective 1 January 2024. All personnel responsible for CYP operations are required to be aware of the criteria and ensure they are met.

Navy Child and Youth Programs (CYP) has concluded a multi-year pilot to update and revise the inclusion process. The goals of the pilot were to streamline services for patrons with dependents who have disabilities: emotional, behavioral, or developmental identified needs, and to allow Navy CYP to utilize a team approach to support inclusion. Navy CYP is implementing inclusive practices to meet the legal requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Administration includes the direction and operation of a large (200+) CDC. A variety of services are provided in accordance with demand and availability of funding to include full-time child development programs for ages 6 weeks through 12 years, emergency care, special needs care, developmental assessments, and extensive staff training and parent education programs.
