Line of Sight Supervision and Visual Identifier Requirements Policy

DOD and Navy Policy allow for CYP Professionals to work with children under Line of Sight Supervision, or LOSS, prior to full background check completion. All personnel working or providing services in Navy CYP without a favorably adjudicated Child Care investigation are required to be visually identifiable, as visual identifiers assist all staff in knowing which CYP Professionals in knowing with staff must be within LOSS. On September 28, 2018, the Assistant Secretary of Defense released a Memorandum that provides policy clarification of the term ΓÇ£Line of Sight Supervision.ΓÇ¥ The Navy CYP Line of Sight Supervision and Visual Identifier Requirements Policy Letter and Enclosures have been issued to provide additional clarification for visual identification requirements to support the implementation of LOSS.
