The purpose of the School Liaison and Youth Sponsorship Best Practices Catalog is to create a central library of Child & Youth Education Services (CYES) "Best Practices" to facilitate information sharing between Navy Child and Youth Programs (CYP) and other Fleet and Family Readiness functional areas. A submission template has been provided for installations to submit their best practices for consideration. Submissions should be sent by installations to CNIC N926 CYES via each Region.
There are 14 specific primary terms included in IDEA under the lead definition of "child with a disability." These federal terms and definitions guide how States define disability and who is eligible for a free appropriate public education under special education law.
CNIC, HQ, Child and Youth Programs (CYP-N912) hosted the Child and Youth Education Services (CYES) Process Enhancement Team (PET) 23-24 April 2008. The Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) Office of Family Policy/Children and Youth is providing this guide to assist program and installation staff in the planning of Groundbreaking and Opening Ceremonies. To that end, we have collected information from the Military Services and professional staff to prepare this guide.
The Navy School Liaison Directory is available to provide the point of contact information for every region and installation School Liaisons (SLs) to assist families with their educational needs.
Child and Youth Education Services (CYES) will be implemented Navy-wide in Navy Child and Youth Programs to address Youth Sponsorship and K-12 education issues for Navy Families. CYES will use School Liaison Officers (SLOs) to assist with the delivery of installation programs and create school-based programming to military associated preteen and teenage youth.
