The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American Public Health Association (APHA), and the National Resource Center for Health and Safety in Child Care and Early Education (NRC) have released the Fourth Edition of Caring for Our Children: National Health and Safety Performance Standards; Guidelines for Early Care and Education Programs. These national standards represent the best evidence, expertise, and experience in the country on quality health and safety practices and policies that should be followed in today's early care and education settings.

The Family Relations Standard provides CYP Professionals with guidance on and strategies for implementing all Navy policy requirements related to building and sustaining collaborative relationships with families, embracing family-centered practices, and providing rich opportunities for family communication, engagement, and participation.

The Inclusion Standard provides policies and standards for including children with disabilities and other special needs in Navy CYPs, including the role of the Inclusion Action Team (IAT) and other inclusion support systems, identifying needs, referral systems, accommodations, and behavior support

The Navy Child and Youth Programs Interactions and Relationships Standard provides CYP Professionals with specific information and guidance regarding the Navy's requirements for facilitating appropriate and healthy interactions.
