Incorporating Mindfulness Techniques in Youth Programs
On March 25, 2020, Brent Edwards and Jenny Jordan provided a virtual training on Incorporating Mindfulness Techniques in Youth Programs. Mindfulness practices improve how children and youth manage their goals, stress, emotion and eating. When children and youth practice mindfulness, it may help reduce stress and anxiety and support young people as they experience the day-to-day commotion in their lives. This session will explore the concept of mindfulness and provide activities to incorporate across school age, teen, and sports programs with the intention of increasing mindfulness techniques and understanding. The virtual training featured presentations, audience interaction, and a live Q&A. After reviewing the virtual training, each participant is asked to complete a reflection guide to facilitate deeper thinking and action planning. After completing the reflection guide, CYP professionals should connect with their T&C Specialist to update their individual development plan (IDP) via CYMS.
