The National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year (FY) 2017 (Public Law 114-328) mandates reporting on allegations of child abuse and neglect in military families and homes to the Family Advocacy Program (FAP). Section 575, Reporting on Allegations of Child Abuse in Military Families and Homes, requires any individual within the chain of command of a member to report credible information (which may include a reasonable belief) that a child in the family or home of the member has suffered an alleged incident of child abuse.
