The purpose of the Youth Director position is to administer a developmentally appropriate youth program for children of eligible patrons. This position is a Child and Youth Programs (CYP)Coordinator of the Teen and Youth Fitness (YF) Program. The Teen and YF programs enable Navy families to balance the competing demands of family life and military readiness by providing rewarding opportunities for youth to be physically active and exposed to positive lifestyle behaviors.

Navy Child and Youth Programs standardized positions descriptions (PDs) are required to be use for all Navy CYP operations. Enclosure (1) provides an updated chart of all CYP standardized PDs which are required to be used. Both Appropriated Fund (APF) and Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) standardized PDs have been classified and are provided.

Administration includes the direction and operation of a large (200 or more children) School Age Care (SAC) program and/or a Youth Program (YP). A variety of services are provided in accordance with demand and availability of funding to include programs for children ages 5 years through 18 years such as before and after school programs, summer and vacation camp, open recreation, sports and fitness activities, teen programming, and special events. Activities are responsive to the developmental, recreational, social, psychological, and cultural needs of children and youth.

Incumbent serves as a Recreation Aid providing assistance in the oversight of activities and services for children/youth. Incumbent must be 16-18 years of age and currently attending high school.
