We know parents are likely sorting through a wealth of online resources as they navigate the prospect of schooling and learning at home. With the hope of providing some quality tools, Navy CYP would like to share a few suggestions to illustrate the variety of materials available to families and their children.

As communities continue to practice physical distancing, CYPs are encouraged to ΓÇ£virtualizeΓÇ¥ programs and services to better support our families. The following document entitled ΓÇ£Virtual Youth ProgramsΓÇ¥ includes best practices, helpful hints, and programming ideas for CYPs to consider as they virtualize programs and services.

The CYMS shot checklist has been developed to aid CYP professionals responsible for updating immunization documentation in children files.

The U.S. Department of StateΓÇÖs Gilman-McCain Scholarship provides awards of $5,000 for undergraduate child dependents of active duty service members to study or intern abroad on credit-bearing programs. Developed under the framework of the State DepartmentΓÇÖs Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program, the John McCain International Scholarship for the Children of Military Families (Gilman-McCain Scholarship) is open to eligible students enrolled at accredited U.S. colleges and universities who receive any type of Title IV federal financial aid.

All Navy child care payments are required prior to services (certain exceptions may apply). All program revenue must be posted the month service is provided. Program revenue is posted in CYMS only if payments are made. Guidance on how to transfer revenue at the end of the month is included in the EOM Activity Balance Transfer Process document. Operations Clerks are required to run this process monthly.

Third party/agency payments are defined as any payments made on behalf of a household towards child care fees. If a family qualifies for a State program to help with their tuition fees, a specific process is warranted in CYMS for payments from these agencies, as outlined in the Navy CYMS Agency Third Party Process document. State agency rules may apply.

The Boys and Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) National Youth of the Year (YOY) Program is the premier recognition program for Navy Youth Programs teen members. The BGCA YOY Program promotes service to Navy Youth Programs, community and family, academic success, strong moral character, life goals, and poise and public speaking. In September 2012, BGCA added the BGCA Military Youth of the Year (MYOY) Program. In order to support the implementation of the BGCA MYOY, program requirements (Enclosure 1) and a Sample Plan of Action and Milestones (Enclosure 2) have been developed to support installation personnel. Programs are required to implement the BGCA MYOY Program starting in FY2014.

The DoD Standardized Training Program certificate is awarded to CYP staff who have completed the 15 courses of initial competency based training. Programs may use this certificate or create a version locally for use.

These positions are targeted to students who are at least 14 years old and who are interested in being considered for temporary summer employment within Family Readiness (FR) Programs: Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Department; Child and Youth Programs (CYP)

4-H Yoga for Kids provides simple yoga exercises that can be performed in a variety of settings. The series includes fact sheets to teach poses and basic stretches, online videos, and other resources.
