This information will be provided to parents and students by the end ofthe first month of the school year or in the case of a semester course, by the end ofthe first month of the semester.
This Policy Memorandum supersedes all previous policies on home schooling issued by the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA). It applies to DoD dependent students eligible to attend a DoDEA school on a space-required basis in the
Department of Defense Dependents Schools (DoDDS) and on a tuition-free basis in the
Department of Defense Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS) systems.

DoD Instruction 6060.04 establishes policy, assigns responsibilities, and provides direction for the establishment and maintenance of DoD Youth Services. This includes the Youth Program (YP), Youth Sports and Fitness Program (YSFP), School Liaison Program (SLP), and Youth Sponsorship Program. This issuance applies to OSD, the Military Departments, the Office of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Joint Staff, the Combatant Commands, the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Defense, the Defense Agencies, the DoD Field Activities, and all other organizational entities within the DoD.
