Military Child Care in Your Neighborhood (MCCYN)
DoW funds the MCCYN fee assistance program to help eligible military-connected families access affordable, quality child care when military-operated child care is not available due to distance or waitlists.
Introduction
With MCCYN fee assistance, the DoW pays a portion of your child care costs, based on your total family income and your provider’s rate, to offset the costs of community-based care. This makes it easier for military-connected families to find and afford quality child care from community-based providers.

- Understand how states license and regulate child care programs to ensure children’s health and safety.
- Understand how legally license-exempt providers are regulated.
- Review the provider’s licensing history and results of child care inspections through your state’s child care consumer education website.
- Learn about additional quality standards, such as quality ratings and national accreditation, that help programs go beyond basic licensing requirements to provide high-quality care to help children learn, grow, and get ready for school.
- Contact and visit providers to make sure they are the best fit for your child and family.
